I am a Qualified Integrative Counsellor. I have completed the Level 4 Diploma Course in Therapeutic Counselling.
I am also a Certified Mental Health First Aider and I have completed the Online and Telephone Counselling Course. I am a registered member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP) and I abide by its Code of Ethics.
Seeking counselling for the first time is often quite daunting and frightening. From the onset, my intention is to establish a therapeutic relationship with you, where listening and empathy is at the heart of everything we will do together. We can explore together the reason or reasons behind your decision to access therapy.
The Theory underpinning my numerous skills is the Person Centred Approach, as I engage with you because I believe that as the client you are the expert and you have the power to reach your full potential and be able to achieve your own change. Please note, however, that I will not be giving you any advice/solution to your problems but we will work together to help you achieve your goals and effect the necessary changes accordingly. Rest assured that as we travel together in the relationship, it will be like you sitting in the driving seat while I will sit beside you each step of the way.
My work is informed by Attachment Theory, which helps me to explore and understand your pattern of behaviours from your early childhood. As an integrative counsellor, I will use a wide range of interventions – self awareness, silence, chair work, letter writing, drawing (to name a few) – to help you express your feelings/thoughts/behaviour from your perspective.
I am available to meet with you on a weekly basis according to your specific needs.
